was bored and stress from assignments so decided to try out a recepi from food ideas
ingredients 125g butter soften 1/2 cup icing sugar 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract 1 cups of plain flour 1/4 cup corn flour top 1 egg white, beaten 2 tablespoons of white sugar
1) cream butter, icing sugar and vanilla extract till pale yellow. Add flour and corn flour and knead gently until smooth 2) place into a baking tray or pyrex glass, gently press flat. depth shld be abt 1.5cm. use a knife to mark the divisions (to cut easier later) 3) refrigerate for 20 mins, at the same time preheat oven to 160 degress 4) take it out from the fride, brush shortbread top with egg white and sprinkle with sugar. bake for 30-35 mins and allow to COMPLETELY cool before cutting right through and serve
Comments looks very crispy outside cos of the caramalised sugar, but taste wonderful! no need to buy expensive shortbread! make them. To not have to crispy top and to look like a normal shortbread, i think don't add egg white n sugar on top and mark the shortbread with holes(using a fork)
The four of us started this blog together as a way to share our experiences and lessons in the kitchen. Now the blog has evolved into an random mix of recipes which we have tried and liked enough to want to share...some are dishes that remind us of home, some are things that we wouldn't usually have made in Singapore (muffins, cakes and most dishes requiring the oven) and others were just borne out of a need to use a certain ingredient!
Have a browse and have fun trying out the recipes!
