BACK!!!

Melbourne....is such a food heaven!

we stayed with Qin's friend who's studying there...a fellow Singaporean...and foodie...he knew the best places in the city and every meal was fantastic..(thanks Mimi Hong, u da best!!!!)
In fact...we took more than 500 pictures and more than half were of food!!!!

But i m no Augustus Gloop...and feel really intimidated at the pictures that have to be edited, posted and written about....so I'll just concentrate on Fifteen alright?

YES!!! we managed to get a table!!

For a mere $28.50, you get a two course meal and a glass of wine. There were 6 of us in total...so we ordered 3 appetisers, 6 maincourses and 3 desserts...(they all have pretty long and fancy names but i have forgotten what they are...)

appetiser: Minestrone soup with scallops

mains: rissoto with proscuito

rotolo with riccotta and spinach

The decor of the place was quite classy and i especially like the Aseop handwash and handcream in the toilets...
and how about the food??

The soup was good...very light and fresh....and the chefs were pretty generous with the scallops...the rotolo was extremely flavourful but the rissoto seeemed to be a tad overcooked...

as for dessert...I'd let Qin's face do the talking...

hot chocolate cake with banana in a caramel sauce

on the whole, we had a fabulous experience and would definitely go there again!! Yum yum yum!

nutrition students have it good!!!

Remember a couple of weeks ago, we went on a field trip to Virginia, the food bowl of Australia?? Barely has the dust settled before we r going on another one! Yay! This time, we went to the Karuna living culture centre in Bedford Park. (Very near to Flinders, just 10 mins by foot)...I think the purpose of the trip was to educate us on Aboriginal culture...me?? i was more into the food....haaaa....

for the tea break, we had mini Quandong macadamia muffins with whipped cream (no pics cos they look quite ordinary, tasted beautiful/ v gourmet through.. )

and for lunch....

da-tah..!! Kangeroo stew!!!

Lasagne with some bush ingredients...!! what was inside....i also don't know... :P (Charlotte asked to be in the picture btw..)

There was lotsa salad and rice and scones as well... everything tasted good and very classy!!
What does 'classy' mean...erm...subtle flavours cooked with care? hehe....

a stroll to the lake nearby after lunch..

my very full and evidently happy coursemates...

The Living Kaurna Cultural Centre is open weekdays from 10-4pm...and is surrounded by a lovely parkland....well worth a visit if you r in the vincity!

the famous Peking Duck Pizza (they seemed to have tweaked the recipe...used to have plum sauce...)

Kangeroo Island/ kapunda free range chicken pizza with organic baby potatos, garlic, rosemary and parmesan

Mela!

Touted as Adelaide premier Indian festival, it was a superb day out for those enamoured with the Indian culture
Highlights: camel ride, all day long dance performances, a whole stretch of stalls selling indian food, snacks, spices, clothes, accessories and household stuff..
i'd let the pictures do the talking..though i must apologise for the poor quality of non-food pictures...food pictures r so much easier...hee...

clueless cute dancing girls

the very much entranced audience

a very furry camel..

Louisa with two slit walkers

my $10 combo plate: lamb curry, butter chicken n chickpea chicken...it was alright lar...

Louisa's two for $5 curry puffs...she was very taken with the appearance of the snack..

The best part of the outing was actually when we went back to a icecream vendor we had saw at the Adelaide festival theatre...apparently his shop is in Hahndorf (touristy rustic German district in the Adelaide hills..) and cos we were the last customers, he gave us 2 scoops for the price of 1.....YUM!! Almond fig and Pistachio!!!! haaaaaa...
